SI TU TE VAS

The launching of Enrique Iglesias on a world-wide level was given all the fanfare fitting for any new star. To support the release of his first song SI TU TE VAS Enrique filmed a music video that tells a sad love story. In order to accomplish the task, the entire production team of more than 100 people, including extras and technical personnel, traveled to New York City. Bridges, buildings, bars, and alleys of this famous city formed the backdrop for this video which was filmed in two days, with tiring filming sessions of almost 20 hours per day. Filming started very early in the morning, around 5 o’clock, and lasted until after 11:00 p.m.
Enrique himself was responsible for chosing the beautiful model who accompanies him in the video. Her name is Lori Herber, a pretty American girl. She was chosen by Enrique from among more than 20 girls. According to Enrique, he chose Lori not only because she was very pretty, but because her face was unknown and she had a fresh, natural look, not the stilted look of some famous models.
The director of the video, Jon Small, has worked in the past with artists like Billy Joel, Aerosmith, and Whitney Houston. Jon recreated the story of a young singer in a bar who is suffering because his girlfriend left him. The good-bye scene was filmed at the historic Grand Central Station. The video includes scenes of the couple riding in a Jeep along the famous bridges of the city, walking along the typical grafitti-filled streets of the Bronx, and kissing on the Brooklyn Bridge with the imposing skyscrapers of the city in the background. By the end of the filming, Lori and Enrique had developed an incredible chemistry and ended up being the best of friends, mainly because before each scene of the video was filmed, Enrique would translate the Spanish lyrics of the song into English so that Lori would understand them. Very gentlemanly on his part, no?
