Before he could speak though, he needed a drink of water, but most of it dribbled into his lap which got a big giggle from the crowd.

Nessel wrote, "He was just another student, always wearing a simple white T-shirt, long hair tucked behind his ears. But what magic he exuded! Something I've only experienced once before, when a certain older boy in high school would walk past me. I felt that same silly nervousness. That boy went on to become a New York City runway model. Hmm, there must be something to those instincts."

April 10, 2002 - Lee Nessel of Florida Today profiled Enrique Iglesias show in Melbourne's King Center, the only show he'll do in Central Florida. Fans were shocked he'd play there but Steve Janicki, executive director of the King Center and promoter of Iglesias' show in Melbourne said, "It's a Central Florida exclusive, and that's the only way I'd do the show. As far as popularity and the number of songs he has on the charts and being so close to breaking superstardom, it's pretty hot. It's very exciting for Brevard and for the King Center." .

April 9, 2002 - Richard L. Eldredge of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was at Enrique Iglesias' performance at the newly renovated Chastain Park Amphitheater on Saturday night. When it comes to people I love, like my family and friends, I can smile a lot or cry a lot, it all depends," Enrique said. "But I think that passion goes into my music, for me it’s an escape. Whenever I feel depressed or happy I pick up a pen and paper and begin to write."

Complaints about the bad sound at Enrique Iglesias' concert at the Air Canada Centre's Sears Theatre on Monday have not fallen on deaf ears. Officials from the ACC, Iglesias' management and local concert promoter Clear Channel Entertainment were working yesterday on a resolution after receiving "a couple of hundred complaints." "We've been recording names and addresses and so we intend to get back to the people, probably evaluate the complaints on a case-by-case basis," Bob Hunter, the ACC's senior vice-president and general manager, said yesterday. "Certainly, we knew we had a problem. We tried to fix it during the show and couldn't technically." Hunter said the problem was that Iglesias, who kicked off his North American tour Monday, was using his speaker set-up for the first time. "The sound was not directionally correct and so we had areas that were not properly fed," Hunter said. He added that they were unaware of the problem during soundcheck. He didn't know if a full-out refund might be the resolution -- tickets were priced between $69.50 and $49.50 -- but he wouldn't rule out compensation of some kind. Hunter said the only other time the ACC had sound complaints for the Sears Theatre, which has hosted almost 30 shows, was the Down From The Mountain Tour on Feb. 6, but certainly not in such high numbers. Iglesias was scheduled to play in Montreal last night.

Latin pop star Enrique Iglesias launched his Escape tour last night at the Air Canada Centre's Sears Theatre in front of a sold-out crowd of 5,000. Make that 5,000 screaming, singing, dancing and clapping girls and women although a few men were miraculously spotted in the audience. In fact, Iglesias' Toronto show sold out in a mere forty minutes. The popularity of the twenty something Miami-based heartthrob is undisputed in T.O. with his previous mall appearances in the area drawing excited females in the thousands. But with his second English language album, the afore mentioned Escape, selling well on the heels of his 1999 English language breakthrough Enrique, a concert tour pulling into these parts one day was a given. (He's already sold 23 million albums worldwide as a Spanish-language pop star.) Among those attending last night was Iglesias' current girlfriend and video co-star (for the title track from Escape), tennis babe Anna Kournikova. However, all eyes were on Iglesias, especially after he started the concert 40 minutes late and made his entrance in snug-fitting brown leather pants. Walking out on a spotlight-laden, wood-paneled catwalk that enabled him to get closer to his fans, Iglesias was quickly handed single red roses from some of those concert goers near the front of the stage during the second and third songs, Love To See You Cry and Bailamos. He's clearly the son of crooner Julio in the-charm-the-pants-off-the-audience department. And upping the sexual energy ante was a duet between Iglesias and a blonde female backup singer -- scantily-clad in a beaded halter top and black leather pants -- as they kissed, nuzzled, held hands, gyrated and generally touched each other during the duet Could I Have This Kiss Forever. This scene was later repeated between Iglesias and a 13-year-old female fan plucked from the audience for a personal serenade during his big hit, Hero. The sound was a definite problem, especially in the higher reaches of the ACC with a crowd to my right screaming in unison: "We can't hear you!" several times. But, honestly, it didn't seem to matter that much what Iglesias -- a walking Calvin Klein ad --was actually saying or singing. Case in point: When he raised up his green T-shirt -- emblazoned with the words "Naval Academy --San Diego" to wipe his nose, the sight of his washboard stomach illicited a roar. Song-wise, it was Iglesias uptempo hits -- Bailamos, Rhythm Divine, Escape , Oyeme and Be With You -- that went over best during the hour-and-twenty-five minute performance. A well-intentioned acoustic set of softspoken ballads in the middle of the show almost put the crowd to sleep. Better executed was his set-ending cover of Steve Miller's The Joker, which saw Iglesias seated on the catwalk surrounded by his seven-piece band and three backup singers. He even grabbed his crotch for extra effect as he sang the line: "I really like your peaches, just want to shake your tree."

Enrique performed last night at The World Music Awards show. He not only performed his heart out, he won two big awards as well for "Best Selling Pop Artist" and Best Selling Latin Male Artist". ENRIQUE IGLESIAS celebrated his recent British No1 by sporting a Union Jack hat on stage. The Latin heart-throb got the crowd on their feet as he belted out his hit Hero – top of the UK charts for four weeks – and his latest song Escape. But the star was left fuming and pacing the stage when his microphone did not work for 15 minutes.

Enrique Iglesias performed at the Irish Music Awards in Dublin on Sunday but was in and out of the city before heading off to Monaco for the World Music Awards. Enrique did have time to chat with ShowbizIreland.com where he told them after jumping from the stage to sing amongst the fans, "When I got off the stage I didn't realise it was so high, so I had to wait till the song was over to jump back up, I didn't want to make a fool of myself." Amongst the winners at the show were Westlife, Samantha Mumba, and Robbie Williams.

The Enrique,s flight had to be diverted from a flight headed to Italy and land back in the U.S. for engine repairs in Savannah, Georgia. Because of the problems, Enrique was forced to cancel an appearance on an Italian television show. The plane has since been fixed so Iglesias can make a scheduled performance in Leipzig, Germany.
